New Zealand - conservation volunteering
so now I am on the opposite side of the earth - 12 hours timedifference.
My first two weeks here in New Zealand I spend with voluntary work out in beautiful New Zealand nature. Seedcollecting, treeplanting, shellbank-clearance, assisting with schoolclasses and naturetrack-restauration are tasks for a small group up to 10 volunteers.
An autumn-morning at Cosseys-dam
our volunteer-house had view of this lake
in the middle of nature south of auckland
My fellow volunteers
The rainforest we worked in. Treeferns are common - looks not like home, does it?
shellbank clearance - an endangered bird - the dotterel - likes clear shellbanks for it's nest. Only 1200 birds are left, 10 of them on this shellbank.
Tomorrow we are off for 5 more days volunteering. No phone, no TV, no internet - only nature.
